Green Grass Learning Center is dedicated to promoting higher quality Early Childhood Education programs for children in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment. We promote each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth and competency through positive experiences. We believe that all children are unique in their way and should be encouraged to learn and develop at their own rate.
AFTER-SCHOOL ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
Homework help, Mandarin Chinese, supplemental math, English practice, Drawing, and Art crafts are all included in our after-school program tuition. Your child may participate in all of these programs, or you may choose any combination.
Safety IN G.G.L.C
Safety is always the first priority in our center. G.G.L.C will provide a safe, caring, and nurturing area for your child.
Homework Help
Quiet class time is provided for students to work on their homework assignments. Two staff are available to answer questions and review completed homework.
Mandarin Chinese
G.G.L.C teaches simplified Mandarin Chinese in our after-school program. This program is to provide a lively and interesting Chinese learning environment for children and to stimulate their interest in studying Chinese. (Chinese & English children’s song)
We use Zhong Wen Chinese textbook from Ji-Nan University that introduces 2,500 Chinese characters, covers a wide range of topics, and provides an overview of Chinese culture including Chinese geography, history, and philosophy. The 1-9 volumes introduce the basic knowledge of Chinese, including the characters, Pinyin system, sentence patterns, and short composition. The 10-12 volumes talk about Chinese geography, history, philosophy, and so on. With simple words of the contents, students will learn the Chinese language and culture easily.
Math and Critical Thinking
We use EXL practice assignments tailored to each child’s level which will keep every child motivated and challenged. Your children will tackle new objectives and dramatically improve their math skills. We provide weekly feedback on your child’s progress. (please check your child’s Friday packet)
English (reading comprehension & grammar)
Our teacher will create individualized practice assignments for each student This program will enhance and expand language arts concepts taught during the school year. We primarily use grade-appropriate language worksheets from well-known publishers. This will help your children to meet the state standards and challenge them to achieve higher levels. Reading is encouraged for each student for at least 30 minutes each day. The mini library holds all grade books for the child to choose.
Other fun activities…
- Drawing Class is on Friday 3:30 -5:00 pm
- Piano Practice (all graders, 10-15 mins for each student, daily Sign-ups are limited)
- Computer Typing ( Grade 3 – 8, 15 mins for each student, daily sign-ups are limited)
- Board games, computer typing, and table tennis (ping pong) will be provided after 5:00 pm daily.
